YOUR FUTURE ENVIRONMENT
Eiffage, through its subsidiary Eiffage Génie Civil, has won the design-build contract awarded by Statens Vegvesen, a company owned by the Norwegian Ministry of Transport, to build the new section of the E18-E39 urban motorway between Gartnerløkka and Kolsdalen in Kristiansand, Norway, at a cost of over €234 million.
The aim of the contract is to increase the capacity of the main interchange providing access to the city centre and port activities of the country's 6th largest city. IT involves the construction of a 1.4 km 2x2 lane motorway in a dense urban area, including the construction of 12 structures, the reconstruction of 1.5 km of track, as well as the redevelopment of the existing ferry terminal and the installation of electrical and traffic engineering equipment.
The project has been designated a "pilot for the use of low-carbon energy" by the Norwegian government and is aiming for a BREEAM rating of "Excellent". Eiffage drew on the expertise and innovative solutions of several of its entities. In particular, Eiffage Route's GB5® ultra-high performance asphalt mix will BE used for the pavements, while Biophalt®, a mix based on bio-sourced binder, will BE used for the cycle paths and pavements. The work, which will BE carried out in 4 phases, will start after a year of studies, and will have to BE carried out while maintaining road, cycle, and rail traffic as well as access to maritime infrastructures. Handover is scheduled for mid-2029.
This new contract won by Eiffage Génie Civil strengthens the Group's position in Norway, where IT is currently carrying out design-build work on lots 1, 2 and 3 of the E18 motorway (section between Langangen and Rugtvedt) on behalf of Nye Veier, a company owned by the Norwegian Ministry of Transport.
YOUR MAIN TASKS
The Methods Engineer is in charge to propose and develop, in coordination with Construction and Design department, specific phasing and corresponding methods of construction in accordance with the Project Planning and Budget.
His very first priority will consist on the identification and localisation of all the constraints to BE resolved to allow the expected phasing and construction program.
As the project is developed in a urban zone near the centre of Kristiansand City, the success will rely on the accuracy and management of the constraints.
Reporting to the Construction Manager :
- Zoning plan and constraints identification
- Installation plans and drawings
- Phasing sequences with all the required details
- Preliminary design for roads diversion
- Temporary works drawings and design principles
- Specific construction methods for structure
- Alternatives solutions
- Risks and Opportunities relative to methods and phasing
- Deliveries : Method statements, Phasing drawings in 2D (AutoCAD or similar), Phasings in 3D (Solibri, Revit, Civil 3D, or similar), based on design models (IFC or STEP files)
